World Diabetes Day Celebration 2006

In commemoration of the World Diabetes Day 2006, the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, organized a quiz for the Medical Students on 10th November, 2006.

Winners of the MediQuiz for Medicos were :

First prize - Batch of 2002 : Srila : Anandaroop : Kalyan
Second prize - Batch of 2003 : Varsha : Kirthi : Tharani
Third prize - Batch of 2002 : Tanumay : Juliana : Balla

Walk –a-thon: November 14 being the World Diabetes Day the Department of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism along with SIH-R&LC Karigiri had a walk –a-thon from Worth Trust to Don Bosco High School. A public talk was given by Dr. Ib Bygbjerg, Professor, Department of International Health, University of Copenhagan,Denmark. He emphasized the importance of the awareness of Diabetes among the public.There was active public participation along with the students of the College of Nursing. Slogans were voiced by college students.

In commemoration of the World Diabetes Day 2006, the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, organized a quiz for the Nursing Students on 7th November, 2006.

Winners of the DIAQUIZ were ;

First prize : Sherlin V. (I yr. M.Sc.) : Dinesh (III yr. Dip.) : Dhanya (III yr. B. Sc.)

Second prize : Priyadarshini (I yr. M. Sc.) : Jyothi (III yr. B.Sc.) : Rebecca (III yr. Dip.)

Third prize : Dechen (I yr. M. Sc.) : Sheik (III yr. Dip.) : Tintu (III yr. B. Sc.)

In commemoration of World Diabetes Week, essay and painting competitions were organized for schools in Vellore to create awareness among students. 20 Schools,163 students and 20 teachers participated.

A General Health Quiz was conducted for the teachers by Dr. Ib Bygbjerg, who gave a talk on the importance of awareness of Diabetes.

The Painting competition was judged by Dr. Sussanna Thomas and Dr. Meera Thomas from the Department of Pathology.

Remo Manoraj –Sunbeam School: Third place

In commemoration of the World Diabetes Day 2006, the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, organized an exhibition and poster competition for the Staff & Students at CMC Vellore on 21st November, 2006.

Winners of poster competition:
First prize : Suparna, Mogana, Sundari and Jeyalakshmi, Dietary Department
Second prize : Ramya, Rajani, Mrs. Manimegalai, Dietary Department
Third prize : Ms. Belcy, MICU Staff
In commemoration of the world diabetes week, the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism organized a valedictory function in Hotel Grand Krishna on December 1, 2006 at 7.00 pm, which was graced by chief guest Dr. Gagandeep Kang, Professor of Microbiology.A self-composed song competition on Diabetes and a self-composed dance competition based on the theme “ The Foot in Diabetes” were conducted.The students from 9 colleges participated enthusiastically in all the events. The judges Mrs. Shirley David, (Deputy Director) and Mr. Durai Jasper (Senior Radiographer) announced the winners of the competition.

Winners of the Music Competition were:
First Prize: Voorhees College, Vellore.
Second Prize : Medical Students - Batch of 2003,Christian Medical College, Vellore.
Third Prize : St. John’s College of Nursing, Adukambarai.

Winners of the Dance Competition were:

Second Prize: DKM College of Arts and Science, Vellore.
