WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENDOCRINOLOGY CMC VELLORE
The Department of Endocrinology CMC Vellore is one of India’s reputed center for the treatment of diabetes and other endocrine disorders and is an ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) Collaborating Centre of Excellence (ICMR-CCoE) for Diabetes. The endocrine services at CMC Vellore began as an Endocrine Clinic under the Department of Medicine in 1985. After a decade of successful growth, an independent Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism was established in 1995. This department caters to the medical needs of nearly 90,000 patients from India and Asia each year. In addition, the outpatient clinics in Endocrinology and Diabetes are operational at the CMC Vellore Chittoor campus, serving the needs of patients from Andhra Pradesh. On the academic front, the first-ever super-specialty training course in Endocrinology (DNB in Endocrinology) in South India was initiated, later evolving into a DM in Endocrinology in 2011.
The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, Christian Medical College, Vellore has been designated as an ICMR–Collaborating Centre of Excellence by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
This recognition acknowledges outstanding contributions to biomedical research, academic leadership, and excellence in endocrine and metabolic healthcare.
