1986 - 1996

1986: Endocrine outpatient clinic started.
1995: Recognized as a separate unit in CMC Vellore.
1996: PhD in Endocrinology commenced.

2001

Diabetes (Endocrine) integrated clinic started.
First Endocrine higher speciality training programme in Southern India.
First prospective interventional studies in Osteoporosis.
First full-time Diabetes Nurse Educator inducted.
DEXA machine installed for assessment.

2002 - 2003

2002: Menopause clinic initiated.
2003: New outpatient area inaugurated.
2003: First prospective interventional studies in Diabetes.

2004 - 2006

2004: H ward dedicated for Endocrinology.
2004: Doctors & Educators short training programmes initiated.
2006: Moved to new premises (Office, Clinical & Research space).

2007 - 2008

2007: First basic science research studies in Diabetes.
2007: First winter Symposium in Endocrinology.
2007: Pituitary Clinic initiated.
2008: Post-Doc & Post-MBBS Fellowship in Diabetes initiated.

2009 - 2010

2009: Distance Education Programme in Diabetes initiated.
2009: Diabetes Foot clinic & Young Diabetes clinic started.
2010: Diabetic Ophthalmology facility started.
2010: Hosted ESICON Conference in Vellore.

2011 - 2013

2011: DM in Endocrinology course introduced (MCI).
2012: Thyroid Clinic & Molecular Laboratory inaugurated.
2013: Metabolic Bone Disease clinic initiated.
2013: First Genetics test results interpreted in-house.

2014 - 2015

2014: Inauguration of A.M. Cherian Wing (OPD Extension).
2014: Foot Care and Footwear Training initiated.
2015: Hosted National Metabolic Bone Disease Conference.
2015: Awarded BMJ Diabetes Team of the Year.

2016 - 2017

2016: DM Endocrinology seats increased to 4.
2016: Bariatric and Obesity Clinic initiated.
2016: CMC Vellore Research Team of the Year.
2017: RCP London Excellence in Patient Care Award.
2017: Endocrine Clinic at Chittoor Campus initiated.

2018 - 2026

2025: Achieved National Recognition as an ICMR–Collaborating Centre of Excellence (ICMR-CCoE).
2026: Awarded Global Recognition as an IDF Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care.
