Dr Kripa Elizabeth Cherian graduated from Government Medical College, Trivandrum and completed her M.D., in Internal Medicine from Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. She pursued DM., in Endocrinology at Christian Medical College, Vellore which she successfully completed in August 2018, and DrNB (Endocrinology) in March 2019.

During her training period, her research work was a dissertation titled “Endocrine dysfunction, bone health and body composition in recipients of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant,” which was jointly done in collaboration with the department of Haematology. During her training period she was awarded The Young Scholar Award – first runner up by the Endocrine Society of India.

She has undertaken several research projects in the field of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, including various aspects of epidemiology, treatment, outcomes and bone health assessment in diseased cohorts. She has several accolades to her credit. She won the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University medal for first place in Endocrinology and the President’s gold medal for first place in DrNB Endocrinology.

She was awarded the Senatus prize for the best research paper (2021), Endocrine Society Award for excellence in endocrine writing (2022), the ESI Yuvaratna Award (2023) and the AR Sheth Award for best clinical research (2024). She was also awarded the Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in 2023. She completed the certification in Clinical Densitometry (CCD) in the year 2025.

Her interest includes various aspects of osteoporosis, bone health in diabetes, metabolic bone diseases such as Paget’s disease of bone, oncogenic osteomalacia, osteogenesis imperfecta, primary hyperparathyroidism, transplant endocrinology and rare bone diseases among various others. She would also like to work towards spreading awareness about osteoporosis and fracture prevention. She is also an adjunct faculty at the Centre for Public Health, CMC Vellore.
