The endocrine services in CMC Hospital started as an Endocrine clinic under the department of Medicine in 1985. A separate department of Endocrinology and Metabolism came into being in 1995. In the year 2001, the first ever super specialty training course in Endocrinology in South India was introduced by the department.  
  This department is one of the most well recognised centres in India for diagnosis and management of hormonal and metabolic disorders like diabetes, diseases of thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary glands, male reproductive & ovarian disorders, as well as obesity and metabolic bone disorders.
